Agriculture Ministry staff await Volet Livestock Station completion
Volet Livestock Station under construction
Staff of the Ministry of Agriculture who recently occupied the Beausejour Agricultural Station in Vieux-Fort are eagerly awaiting the completion of the Volet Livestock Station in Micoud.
The staff, who earlier this year had to vacate their location to make way for the construction of the Desert Star Holdings horse racetrack have had their office relocated on Theodore Street, Vieux-Fort and the livestock farm to the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College Farm in Dennery.
According to the staff, travelling from Vieux-Fort to Dennery to tend to the livestock is creating much inconvenience to them, which is one of the reasons why they are anticipating the competition of the Volet Livestock Station.
Loop News understands that an imported goat was stolen from the farm in Dennery, a problem which had plagued the farm while it was located at Beausejour, Vieux-Fort.
Earlier this year work commenced on the first phase of the project which will be developed on 30 acres of land.
When Loop News visited the construction site last week, workers were seen busy at work.
No date has been set for when the Volet Livestock Station will be completed and fully operational.
