A 21-year-old woman says she fought off a would-be rapist who attacked her as she made her way home after a late shift of work.
The Cas en Bas woman, who works for a hotel in the north, says she came off her staff bus to walk home at about 11:20pm on Monday, January 22, 2018. She says that she was attacked by a man shortly after who had been hiding in bushes.
The woman says she was grabbed from behind as the attacker attempted to pull her into the bushes. She says she fought and screamed as he tried to knock her unconscious. They wrestled until he eventually ran off back into bushes. During the tussle, the attacker called out to another person in the bushes for help but that person did not surface or respond.
The alleged victim, who had visible bruises about her legs and face, said she feared she would be killed as the man was unmasked.
Residents allege that this is not the first sexual assault attempt by the man.
