Prime Minister Allen Chastanet, National Security Minister Senator Hermangild Francis and the island’s Police Commissioner are expected to address the businesses and residents in the north during a town hall meeting to be hosted by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF).
The meeting will take place this evening at 6 pm at the Gros Islet Human Resource Development Centre.
The RSLPF is continuing with its series of town hall meetings with members of the public which started in December 2019.
“These meetings have been very positive for us and we find that it is very important for us to establish that link with members of the community,” Superintendent of Police Elvis Thomas told Loop News.

According to Thomas, “Many times we do not understand the importance of establishing that link with the community. Policing is not just a policing problem but if we as a country, as a people can come together to deal with the issues of crime and violence, then we are in a better position to make Saint Lucia safer.”
The December meetings featured presentations from various stakeholders within the security and safety sector.

“This evening we have some very special guests with us, the commissioner of police, the Minister of National Security, the MP for Gros Islet and the Prime Minister who will be making remarks and be part of a panel where we will have open discussions and persons in attendance will be free to ask questions and make suggestions as to how we can make the country safer,”
While the town hall meeting will be held at the Gros Islet Human Resource Centre, ASP Thomas is hoping residents of other communities will be present.
