Babonneau chopping victim in stable condition at hospital
A female Babonneau resident is listed in stable condition at the Owen King EU Hospital after she was physically assaulted with a sharp object.
The incident took place at Plateau, Babonneau last night (July 15) at approximately 8.30 pm.
"Arriving emergency personnel found the individual lying on her left side on the ground in the presence of police officers. An assessment of the patient revealed a laceration on her upper right arm. Her wound was bandaged and she was transferred to the ambulance where rapid emergency transportation was given to the OKEU Hospital," Stacy Joseph of the Saint Lucia Fire Service said Thursday.
The victim has been identified by neighbours as Canita St Clair.
Neighbours alleged that St Clair was attacked by her stepbrother, who is believed to be suffering from mental issues.
"She was screaming and crying very loud and that's what alerted everyone," said one neighbour.
The assailant was subsequently taken into police custody after locking himself in his home following the incident.
