CXC results back for students and ministries at the same time in 2020
In a historic move, the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) has taken the decision to release results to students and Ministries of Education at the same time, for the first time ever.
"Today CXC will be releasing the official results for the CSEC and CAPE examinations to the Ministries of Education and candidates simultaneously.
"This change will give the candidates the opportunity to access their results in a timely manner and [to] engage the institutions of their choice immediately to complete their matriculation."
Barbados' Education Minister Santia Bradshaw revealed this during the ceremony at the CXC Headquarters in Barbados, held for the official release of the July 2020 Examination Results.
That means, after delay upon delay with rescheduling of examinations due to COVID-19 and tropical storms, today (September 22), students will receive their results without having to wait on ministry officials.
"This year due to the challenges associated with the administration of examinations, the later than usual release of the 2020 results and the need to accommodate many students who are eagerly awaiting the results for matriculation into tertiary institutions both regionally and internationally, CXC has moved away from its established practice of releasing results to the Ministries of Education in the region prior to the release to the candidates."
Bradshaw called this another "positive" that has come out of COVID-19.
And she said that 2020 has shaped up to be a "significant and historic" one for CXC and the people of the region, especially for those who sat CXC exams under the newly-introduced modified approach to the administration of the examinations and testing.
