DASH2020: Underlining the importance of social responsibility

Embracing corporate social responsibility is the focal underpinning of many supporters and sponsors of DASH, who all believe in the sixth annual event’s core values of youth empowerment, health and wellness, charity, diversity and unity.
Among those organisations that believe strongly in this is longstanding partner Digicel which, like DASH has not only continued to live up to its commitment to charity but has over the years steadily raised the bar and exceeded expectations.
Recognising the clear distinction of the two, Marketing Manager Jamisha Wright said, “We at Digicel are super pleased to be a part of DASH Colour Run for another year. The cause is very much in line with our corporate social responsibility.”
She added that not only is the event “fun and patriotic”, but it is one that is “strategically rewarding to those who need that extra push within our community.”
Other key sponsors include KFC, The Cell, West Tech Shipping, Republic Bank, LUCELEC, and Lumnat Distributors all of whom have joined the cause of underlining the importance of family, partnership and charity.
Registration is currently underway for DASH 2020 at its flagship store in the JQ Mall every Saturday and in the week at The Shoe Rehab (JQ Mall), The FootSpa (Gable Woods Mall) and The Junior Achievement Office in Bois D’Orange. Online registration is also available.
The independence event is set to take place on March 1 and will follow a new route for an improved DASHing experience. And, according to partners at Republic Bank, the event is “directly aligned” to its corporate social responsibility program dubbed ‘Power to Make a Difference!’
“We are proud to partner with DASH as we work to empower our Youth and Build a better St Lucia,” said Kristal Khodra-Auguste, the bank’s Business Manager.
Under the leadership of four creative and energetic directors, Akim Larcher, Robberta Rose, Aberra Larcher and Dion Marshall, the event is being presented as the “Hero Edition” – poised to inspire and encourage “fearlessness and confidence” in all DASHers.
For 2020, the charity has shifted to the Junior Achievement St Lucia, with a particular focus on its Innovation Camp - something very familiar to another longstanding partner - THE CELL. In 2019, DASH, THE CELL and Courts, joined hands to provide what was dubbed a technological boost to the Dunnottar School.
Sales and Marketing Manager Cindy-Ann Gilbert said the company was “thrilled at the opportunity to partner with DASH again for 2020,” having been a “reliable and passionate” DASH partner for three years.
“This year it's even more exciting that they have selected Junior Achievers to benefit from the proceeds of this activity,” Gilbert said.
Speaking on behalf of the Junior Achievers, Alphie Mullings-Aiken, President of Junior Achievement Jamaica, has endorsed this year’s partnership. Mullings, who was recently in Saint Lucia attending a regional engagement between the two bodies, said, “I am very excited to hear that the DASH colour run is sponsoring Junior Achievement this year. They get to run, which is healthy; to connect as a youth around their independence; and just thinking about all that time together is the true epitomisation of nation-building.”
She further emphasized the need for corporations to support events like DASH and use it as a baseline for their corporate social responsibility and conscience.
As DASHers bring energy and unity to the March 1st activity, so does another strategic partner LUCELEC to the energy of the nation. 2020 will be LUCELEC’s third year as part of the DASH family and Corporate Communications Officer Carmy Joseph says the partnership ties into several of the company's key support priorities.
“As a company that prides itself on being the ‘energy that powers our nation's success’, we are very pleased to support the inclusion of our youth in an activity that fosters national engagement,” Joseph said.
She said the utility company was particularly pleased with DASH’s partnership with Junior Achievement - “a cause we have championed since inception.”
