Dem Boyz donates school supplies to less fortunate students
Seven less fortunate school students from across the island will be entering the new school term with new backpacks, and a set of school supplies donated by the Dem Boyz Bikers Club.
According to the organization, the initiative was undertaken with a view to easing the financial strain brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic which caused several people to lose their jobs.
“We just thought it would be good to assist parents by assisting in getting their children ready for school as many of them are unable to provide for their families," spokesperson for the club Reifer Leonce said.
The donations include stationery supplies, a school bag, notebooks, exercise books, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, a lunch kit and other school related items.
"The initiative was made possible through members of the club and a few other sponsors and was donated to different kids that we chose or we found out, through Miss Uriah Hunte, that their parents could not afford to get them their school books and stuff for the opening of school," Leonce said.
The presentation was done throughout the communities of Bisee, Morne Du Don Agard, Babonneau, Marigot and Water Works Road.
According to the Dem Boyz Club, the organization is dedicated to providing for the less fortunate in the country and will always assist in whatever way that they can.
Saturday's donation is one of several initiatives undertaken by the organization throughout the year.
