Engine trouble forces CAL flight to be diverted

A Caribbean Airlines flight bound for John F Kennedy International Airport in New York from Guyana, was diverted to Nassau, Bahamas on Saturday night because of a mechanical issue with one of its engines.

There were 134 passengers and seven crew members on board the plane.

In a statement on Saturday night, CAL said flight BW 526 landed safely at 10.51 pm, and was met by airport services.

The aircraft taxied to a gate, where the passengers and crew members were reported to have deplaned normally.

CAL added that the aircraft has been withdrawn from service and all appropriate inspections and procedures are in progress to return it to service in good time.
