Youth cricketer Chaz Cepal has died in a road accident
Many St Lucians are publically grieving on social media after word spread that the victim of a fatal accident this morning in Union claimed the life of promising young cricketer Chaz Cepal.
Saint Lucia experienced yet another road fatality in the early morning hours of today, August 31, 2019.
This occurred when a Suzuki vehicle, registration number PK4913, hit a utility pole and crashed through the wire netting running the full length of the stretch of road between the Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary School and the Ti Morne gap in Union.
Police have yet to release information about the accident however this Loop News reporter can confirm the fatality, having stumbled on the scene on an early morning exercise run.
One police officer on the scene also confirmed the fatality but was unable to determine the victim’s gender. A hearse belonging to the Rambally Funeral Home took the body away.
The incident occurred roughly about 5.15 am, cutting off the electricity supply to homes in the community of Almondale, Union; Ti Morne, Union; Union Terrace and into Balata.
The utility pole was broken in two as a result of the impact. The vehicle tore a huge hole in the wire fence and landed next to the fish tanks on farmlands ran by the Taiwanese and Saint Lucian governments.
