Fedee donates $10k to Anse la Raye family made homeless by fire
Dominic Fedee posted the following earlier today in Facebook:
"On November 7th, whilst representing Saint Lucia at the 2019 World Travel Market in London, I received a distressing video via WhatsApp which showed a house being gutted by fire in the community of Anse la Raye. What was even more heartbreaking was that it was the residence of a constituent whom I know very well.
This morning, as Parliamentary Representative for Anse la Raye/Canaries along with members of the village council we made a donation of EC$10,000.00 towards the reconstruction of the home. The family also received donations of school supplies and clothing from the Anse la Raye Women's Association and the Anse la Raye Constituency Council.
Further assistance will be given as several tradesmen from the community have already agreed to assist with the reconstruction. We will build back stronger and better!"
Prime Minister Allen Chastanet posted as well today saying, "Hon. Dominic Fedee has a heart of gold. I am extremely impressed with how quickly he along with his constituency council have moved to assist this family from Anse la Raye whose home was recently completely destroyed by fire.
This morning, Hon. Fedee along with members of his constituency council made a financial donation along with clothing, school and food supplies to assist the family with the recovery progress.
As a Government, we remain committed to providing assistance to the most vulnerable in our society whether it be fire victims or persons in need of medical assistance. This is evident in the increase in the Public Assistance Programme which we increased from $800,000 a year in 2016 to over $5 Million in 2019."
