Woman injured in Boxing Day hit and run

A 30-year-old woman has been hospitalized as a result of a hit and run accident.

According to emergency personnel, the incident occurred on Boxing Day, December 26.

St Lucia Fire Department responded to a hit and run accident on Bridge Street Castries at approximately 1:26 am.

According to reports from the Saint Lucia Fire Service, a Toyota Noah rear ended a Toyota Belta, sending it off the road.

The driver of the  Noah attempted to flee the scene of the accident but was stopped short of doing so when the vehicle went into a channel near the intersection of Bridge Street. 

A female occupant of the Toyota Belta suffered hip pain and had to be taken to the Victoria Hospital.

The driver of the Noah, believed to be responsible for the Boxing Day accident, was apprehended and assessed by medical personnel and was then turned over to the police.
