Levern Spencer has won another high jump gold medal for St Lucia, this time at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC) Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Levern’s gold is her third in a row at the CAC Games, previously winning at the 2010  Mayagüez, Puerto Rico Games and the 2014 Veracruz, Mexico Games.

Levern’s gold also marks St Lucia’s first medal of this year’s competition, positioning St Lucia at 18th on the medal table.

Levern was able to clear a 1.90m jump, defeating silver medallist Xemina Esquivel Guzman (1.86m) of Mexico and bronze medallist Maria Murillo Duerte (1.86m).

Levern spoke after her win saying, “I thank God for allowing me to win the gold. I wanted to make sure I came here to defend my title.”

Spencer made history earlier this year when she won St Lucia’s first ever gold at the Commonwealth Games.
