Govt to respond to SLTU within weeks after meeting
Created : 15 March 2019
The Saint Lucia Teachers Union (SLTU) met with the Government Negotiating Team (GNT) on Thursday, March 14, 2019 - the date they had established as a deadline whereby a meeting would avoid consequences.
The union held a meeting at the National Cultural Centre on Monday. Many teachers called in sick subsequently, disrupting the normal school week.
SLTU President Julian Monrose told reporters he was satisfied with the three-hour meeting that covered work conditions proposals. He said that the GNT agreed to respond to the concerns raised in two to three weeks time.
Following the meeting, the sick-out actions have been ended with teachers back at school.
