President David Granger met with the Organization of American States (OAS) Election Observer Mission (EOM) to Guyana on Sunday at his office.

The Ministry of the Presidency said Granger noted that the March 2 Regional and General Elections were “orderly.”

“The President reminded that the Elections Commission is an independent and Constitutional body. He assured the observer mission that like all of Guyana, he is awaiting the ruling of the court and ultimately, the declaration by the Elections Commission.”

“President Granger said too that it would be improper and unlawful for him to interfere in the work of the Commission,” the ministry added.

Granger also condemned the levels of violence that occurred during anti-Government protest, last week.

The EOM is headed by former Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding.
