Hidden Gem: Darban waterfall a magical must see in Saint Lucia

Second waterfall in Darban, Saltibus

Second waterfall in Darban, Saltibus

There are hidden treasures all over St Lucia.

You can find them if you are willing to look a little deeper.

One such treasure is a gorgeous waterfall in Darban, Saltibus that will steal your breath away.

This place is unlike anything you have ever seen. It is actually two waterfalls in one.

At first sight, you will catch a glimpse of a curtain of crystal clear water flowing over the grey mountain-like rocks as if it were being poured from a giant bucket and emptied into a beautiful almost clear pool with brown accents at the bottom.

You can spot crayfish and small fishes swimming merrily as if inviting you to join the fun.

The bottom of the pool is tiled with a few small rocks and a huge rock which sits right next to the foaming bottom of the waterfall.

It runs a little deep, but the water is cool and refreshing.

If you take a brief walk to get to the top of the first waterfall, you will discover a true gem.

The first waterfall

A slightly smaller but more magnificent waterfall which looks almost too perfect– almost as if it were one of those classic screensavers or desktop backgrounds. It spurts from the side of a huge rock down into a concave serenity pool flowing into the first waterfall.

The scene is breathtaking and will absolutely give u a calm feeling.

The spot is truly a dream. If you dare to conquer the hike to this waterfall, you will be greeted by a beautiful landscape and a refreshing pool inviting you to take a dip.

The location was quite easy to find. You take a drive through Saltibus until you get to Darban, take the right into Daban, then drive a short way up to the second hill next to the first house on the right-hand side of the road.

Under the breadfruit tree is a dirt footpath. Follow the path all the way downhill until you encounter a plantation of dasheen.

There are lots of mango trees along the way. Don’t hesitate to sink your teeth into a juicy one, after all, you’re in the forest. As soon as you get to the bottom of the hill, the waterfall is nestled right there embedded in all her beauty.

Take a dip in this waterfall and enjoy an incredible day out as part of a St Lucian adventure. I guarantee you will be lost for words when you do see this gem in real life.
