Jamaican charged for illegal entry into Saint Lucia

A Jamaican national was arrested on Sunday, October 25, for entering Saint Lucia at an unauthorized port of entry in addition to disembarking without consent of an immigration officer.

The illegal immigrant has been identified as 43-year-old Granville Blake.

Saint Lucian authorities have indicated that the illegal entry into the island poses a major threat as it relates to the spread of the coronavirus and have made several appeals to members of the public to report such individuals and activities to the police.

Just recently, six Saint Lucians were held by a Marine Police patrol on suspicion of entering the country illegally from neighboring Martinique and were placed in quarantine.

According to Superintendent of Police George Nicholas, Blake was in quarantine prior to his arrest.

A bail hearing is scheduled for later today.
