Man remanded for fatal Fond St Jacques shooting

On Thursday, September 19, 2019, twenty-three-year-old Andris Charles of L’Esperance, Fond St Jacques, Soufriere, was arrested and charged for causing the death of thirty-seven-year-old Ison St John.

The incident occurred on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at about 1:45 am at Fond St Jacques, Soufriere. John sustained a gunshot wound to the chest during a robbery at a business in Soufriere.

Andris Charles, who was also charged for the offence of Robbery, was escorted to the Second District Court, where he was remanded into custody, until October 9, 2019.

It was previously reported that masked individuals, armed with firearms, allegedly entered a business establishment in Fond St. Jacques, Soufriere where it was believed a confrontation occurred between the individuals and the proprietor, resulting in a gunshot being fired in the direction of 37-year-old Ison St. John, causing injury to his chest. He was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner at the scene. Ison St. John was a resident of Fond St. Jacques, Soufriere, but originally of Canaries.
