Man shot in Grand Riviere raid not yet charged, 3 others charged
A 17-year-old and two 20-year-olds were on Friday, May 17, 2019, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition without a valid license and possession of controlled drugs.
Charged and granted bail was Francis Popo, Kevin Adonis and Rakim Joseph respectively, all residents of the Grande Riviere, Gros Islet community.
The trio were not the only ones arrested by police when the lawmen, acting on a tipoff, executed a Warrant to Search for Property at a residence in the community at about 5:30 Thursday morning.
Arrested along with the trio was another individual police has failed to identify due in part to the gunshot that fourth person received during the execution of the search warrant.
That fourth suspect was hospitalized Thursday and was still at hospital Friday under police protection but in stable condition. He has yet to be charged.
Police, during the execution of the search warrant, found a 9 millimeter berretta pistol, fourteen rounds of ammunition and a quantity of illicit drugs.
The young men were escorted to the First District Court on Friday, May 17, 2019, where they were granted bail in the sum of $2000.00 for Possession of Ammunition, $5000.00 for Possession of Firearm and $500.00 for Possession of Controlled Drugs. They are expected to return to court on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
