Gros Islet MP Lenard 'Spider' Montoute is appealing to the public to find alternative ways of dealing with their differences in order to minimize crime in Saint Lucia.

The appeal was made following a shooting incident involving a pregnant woman last Friday evening in Gros-Islet.

The Minister said while he understands that people get into heated exchanges where things escalate, they should not resort to gun violence or physical violence, which he described as a 'no-no'.

However, according to reports, the expectant mother, another female and a male individual were sitting along Marina Street when someone discharged several rounds into the air, wounding the trio in the process This suggests that it was a random act as opposed to being conflict-based.

They sustained wounds to the buttocks and back of the legs and were transported to hospital by private means.

Police are investigating the incident.
