Mother of slain Arnold Joseph disgusted with police
The mother of slain seventeen-year-old Arnold Joseph has expressed disgust at the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), who one year later are unable to give an update on the investigation.
Arnold Joseph was shot and killed at the hands of police on May 22, 2019.
Days after the one year anniversary of the killing, Assistant Commissioner of Police Wayne Charlery was probed on the latest of the investigation.
"We are not ready to give an update as yet but I can tell you the investigating team is working very hard to bring that investigation to a conclusion," Charlery declared, adding that the officers involved in the shooting death of Joseph are on active duty.
The comments by the senior police officer did not sit well with Joanna Joseph, mother of Arnold Joseph.
"This is a shame!" the disgruntled mother expressed.
She continued, "At the end of the day if it does not hit your'll doorsteps or hit a member of your'll family, your'll will never take action the way your'll need to take action.
My child is dead! It's been one year and five days my child is in the ground and you mean to tell me that is all you'll can come up with?"
Thursday morning, Justice Minister Senator Hermangild Francis was probed on the situation, to which he responded, "I did speak to some of the investigators, the firearm has been tested and we look forward to dealing with that case as soon as possible."
Arnold Joseph was a passenger in a vehicle being chased by police throughout the city. The vehicle eventually crashed at the junction of La Pandee and Chaussee Road.
The perusing officers opened fire on the vehicle after claiming they were fired upon.
