National Students' Council 'disturbed' by viral fight video
Saint Lucia National Students' Council (NSC) has released a statement regarding the outbreak of violence at the Dominos store on William Peter Boulevard, Friday, November 8, 2019.
The incident spread online as a viral video.
"The NSC is very disturbed by the incident which took place between the secondary school students and the two adults. We must first commend the adults for intervening during the instance where the first former was being bullied. However, we believe that there should be serious ramifications for the actions of the secondary school students, as they were not only verbally abusive but attempted to extort the form one victim and physically assault both the form one and the adults.
As we have seen on previous occasions, these acts of physical bullying are not isolated incidents and need to be stopped. Greater efforts should be placed by schools and parents to improve the anger management and conflict resolution skills of students. Measures must also be put in place to ensure that victims have an outlet to confide their issues and an assurance that stern action will be taken against these bullies in order to curb this issue."
