NWU shop stewards to meet on St Jude HR Director removal petition
Staff at the St Jude Hospital recently signed a petition seeking the removal of a manager from his position.
Staff spoke with Loop News previously, describing the manager as 'uncouth' in his interaction with many workers, leading to workplace morale being impacted.
Shop Stewards from 12 branches of the National Workers Union (NWU) in the south of the island will meet Friday, May 22, 2020, at 4 pm at the NWU Southern Office to discuss the industrial relations situation at St Jude Hospital.
They will be from the following branches: WASCO South, CARIMAN, WINERA, CDSL, SLASPA, 1st National Bank, Republic Bank, Bank of Saint Lucia, St. Jude Hospital, Caribbean Grains, Saint Lu Metals, Tolyn Manufacturers and SMJ Beverages.
The emergency meeting will be addressed by Mr Leonards Prescott, the Mobilization Officer in the NWU Southern Office based in Vieux Fort.
The Shop Stewards will be updated on the petition signed by the St Jude Hospital workers calling for the removal of the current Human Resource Director, Mr Andrew Piltie. It is expected that a solidarity decision will be agreed upon by the meeting.
Safety protocols regarding COVID-19 will be observed.
