The National Workers Union (NWU) has written to the Management of the Water & Sewerage Company Incorporated (WASCO) asking that they conduct a disciplinary hearing based on the results of a financial investigation.
The letter was dated June 18, 2019.
It was established that an additional ten percent (10%) was added to the wages of Water & Sewerage Workers salary as far back as 2013/2014.
The NWU and the Company have since agreed that that was incorrect.
The Leadership and Shop Stewards of the NWU have agreed with the company to a new sustainable arrangement for the workers.
The NWU feels strongly about the need for this disciplinary hearing.
Should WASCO decide to back track the workers will shut down the plant.
Going forward WASCO has to set high standards of accountability.
