One male in custody for Christmas chopping

A male individual is in police custody in connection with the island’s latest homicide, which took, place Christmas day in Anse Ger, Micoud.

According to police reports, at about 2:00 am on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, Officers attached to the Micoud Police Station, received a report of a chopping incident in the community.

On arrival on the scene, police officers encountered 45-year old Aaron Cooper, a resident of Anse Ger, Micoud.

Copper sustained a laceration to the neck, following an altercation with another male individual known to him.

Videos footage following the incident began making rounds on social media.
 

In a 47-second video clip, the victim is seen sitting on the ground with an alleged cutlass wound to the neck while residents attempt to cover the injury and stop the bleeding.


He was conveyed to the St. Jude Hospital via ambulance, where he was admitted, however, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, December 26, 2019, about 11:30 pm.


According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Press Office, a post mortem examination is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, December 28, 2019.

This is homicide number 48 for 2019, this includes four police killings.
