Outpouring of grief as news of Leebo’s passing circulates

After a lengthy battle with cancer Francis “Leebo” De Lima has died.

Scores of St Lucians have expressed their grief at the loss of the distinguished native son who left an indelible mark in the local music scene as a singer, songwriter and producer and touched the hearts of so many.

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet posted "My sincerest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Francis Leebo De Lima. Saying goodbye to someone we love is always difficult especially a talented individual such as Leebo who has touched so many of us with his music and kind deeds. May you find comfort in all the fun filled memories that you shared with him."

Arthur Allain posted, "Haven’t cried for many deaths in my life...this one? 😢 I’m glad we got to show you how much you mean to us Francis Leebo De Lima! I said it before and I’ll say it again...Leebo we love you! Forever living! Our greeting shall remain! Leeboration for the nation! Rest well my brother.

The CDF issued a release saying, "The Board of Directors, management and staff of the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) wish to extend condolences to the family and friends of Francis “Leebo” DeLima on the passing of their loved one.

Our sympathies also extend to the arts fraternity as they mourn the loss of a dedicated producer, songwriter, engineer, performance artist, mentor, and friend. “Leebo” was a founding member of the Kronic Heights Crew in 2000.

His music label, Heights Music, provided services which included writing, production, mixing and mastering of music for Saint Lucian artists including Shayne Ross, Cherry L, Trish, Level 4, Christopher Hunte and Linda “Chocolate” Berthier.

He was passionate about developing quality sound as part of the Saint Lucian music product and his work ethic was unmatched. In 2013, during the National Arts Festival (NAF), the CDF recognized Francis “Leebo” DeLima as a featured composer for his influence and impact on Saint Lucian music.

May we always remember his contribution as we continue to strive towards excellence as a proud Saint Lucian people.
