The events in our history that lead us to remember today must never be forgotten and as a people we must ensure that slavery in whatever form will never again be part of our human existence. We have to jealousy guard our people from any practice that may however remotely return us to these regrettable days of slavery.
On our return to government the Saint Lucia Labour Party will commemorate in an appropriate manner Emancipation Day.
I wish you a peaceful and restful day and urge our young people to acquaint themselves on the circumstances in our history that cause us to be reflective today.
Happy Emancipation Day.
