Repairs complete, water service being restored to customers - WASCO
The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) wishes to inform consumers in the north of the island that distribution to communities began earlier today.
This is following repairs which were completed on the 32-inch raw water line around 5 am on February 20, 2020.
Emergency repairs were undertaken on the line on February 19, 2020, after the discovery of a rupture was made. Technicians and the crew assigned to effect the repairs worked throughout the night to ensure that customers who had already been experiencing delays in accessing the water supply were not prolonged.
While the repairs were ongoing, WASCO employed a trucking system to supply water to communities which had been most acutely affected by the outage since the problem began last Friday. However, the exhaustive list of areas had to be sectioned, with essential services, schools and some businesses being prioritized.
At the moment, the reservoir levels at the Theobalds treatment plant are increasing and all major valves on the distribution system have been reopened. Customers in some areas have begun to receive a supply and the system continues to be monitored. As the water pressure increases, additional valves and pumps will be turned on to provide more customers with access to the water supply.
WASCO deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to you our valued customers and we thank you for your patience.
