Police officers protest outside Police Headquarters

Several officers attached to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force protested outside Police Headquarters Wednesday morning showing solidarity to one of their own who has been charged for murder.

According to reliable sources, the officer in question is facing a murder charge for the death of 22-year-old Ronnie Samuel.

Samuel was allegedly shot and killed by law enforcement after he reportedly opened fire during a J’ouvert activity in Gros Islet, injuring two other men in the process on August 1, 2018.

Sources close to the investigation told Loop News the directive to prefer charges against the officer was that of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Daarsrean Greene.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Milton Desir spoke to reporters on the matter this morning calling it a sad day for the RSLPF.
