Saadia Byron’s alleged killer remanded to BCF

Anyika Montoute has been remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility following a court appearance earlier today.

31-year-old Laborie resident Montoute was charged with Saadia Byron’s murder yesterday following the receipt of forensic results from overseas earlier this week.

Montoute had been previously held for questioning, among others, in connection to the grisly crime and released pending the outcome of forensic analysis.

Byron, a 33-year-old mother of three from Black Bay, Laborie, was found in a state of semi-undress in a shallow grave near her home on November 11, 2017. She had been reported missing the day before after having been last seen one day earlier.

A post-mortem revealed that Byron died of as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and body.
