Sandals Saint Lucia has dismissed allegations making the rounds on social media claiming that one of its guests has been quarantined at the Victoria Hospital, suspected of having COVID-19 or the Coronavirus.

“We want to strongly dispel some misinformation making rounds via WhatsApp that any guest of Sandals has been screened by the Ministry of Health. This is simply not true and totally misleading,” Winston Anderson, Managing Director of Sandals Saint Lucia told Loop News.

According to a release from the Department of Health and Wellness, a non-national who arrived via a private yacht on February 11, 2020, was quarantined at a public health facility in keeping with the island’s response protocols.

However, no information as to where the individual came from was disclosed.

“It has nothing to do with the resort or Sandals at all,” Anderson asserted.

Last week, the Ministry of Health disclosed that four nationals returning from China were quarantined at home and to date have displayed no signs or symptoms of the virus.
