US$2.4 million Jamaican adventure park being raffled
Valued at US$2.4 million, the H’Evans Scent property sits on 28 acres in Free Hill, St Ann.
A 26-acre adventure park in St Ann, Jamaica is being raffled with tickets priced at US$30 each.
H’Evans Scent owners, Derrick Evans and his wife Sandra said they “are giving away the property and business to one lucky person in a Golden Ticket Promotion”.
After 15 years of operation, the couple now wants to focus their attention on caring for their youngest daughter, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes two years ago.
“It took the oxygen out of the room for us. We started thinking that there was no reason to hang on to this property with all the demands on our lives. We proved that we could do it and one of the main purposes for all that we had was for our family to enjoy it. Now that our daughter needed us, we knew we had to give it up. But not just give it up, give it to someone whose life it would change,” the couple said in a press release.
Co-owners and directors of H'Evans Scent Adventure Park, Sandra Evans and Derrick Evans, also known as 'Mr Motivator'.
Valued at US$2.4 million, the H’Evans Scent property sits on 28 acres in Free Hill, St Ann. It features a nine bed-room house, a swimming pool and an apartment block, ideal for retreats, camping or team building sessions.
The Golden Ticket Promotion winner will also receive US$40,000 to assist with initial operations and advice and training courtesy of Derrick Evans. The promotion will run until January 13, 2019, with a grand prize draw on the 14th. Authorized under section 58(3) of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act, a person may enter the promotion multiple times.
The Evans family first opened the gates of H’Evans Scent as a team building and motivational resource outlet for tourists and locals.
It later morphed into an adventure park, offering a zip line attraction and a paintball pitch.
“Since 1993, I’ve been well-known in the UK as the person who does exercise on the morning breakfast show and so on. But then 20 years ago, we decided to return to Jamaica and look at a place we could retire. When we found this property, I thought it would be the perfect place for our retirement home. It was just woodland, nothing else was around.” Derrick reflected.
According to Derrick, the H'Evans Scent Adventure Park also became a place of employment for those in the surrounding area.
“Providing employment to the unemployable was one of the main reasons for setting up H’Evans Scent in the area of Free Hill. Most of my staff have difficulty with the very basic level of education and if I had not provided them with the opportunity to work and learn a craft, they would have no hope for the future, they would just be on the street. We train them by repetition, each activity being performed many times until it became second nature,” Evans continued.
