St Lucia to celebrate Independence at second official horse race
The Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club (RSLTC) says it is all set to host the second official horse race in Saint Lucia.
According to the Executive Director of the RSLTF, Eden Harrington, “Continuing from the excitement of 2019 CECF & The Pitons Cup in Saint Lucia, RSLTC is geared up for another exhilarating race day to celebrate Saint Lucia’s 41st Independence. We are launching with a bang in 2020 and to that end, we are excited to have this race and being part of Saint Lucia’s Independence celebrations.”
The “Racing for Love” race, scheduled for Sunday, February 16, 2020, Harrington says will feature lots of entertainment and be themed around independence as patrons celebrate and promote the very best of Saint Lucia and Saint Lucians.
According to Harrington, the RSLTC held discussions with the officials at the Office of the Prime Minister who agreed that due to so many activities occurring around independence, the most suitable date was confirmed as February 16 to ensure the other events receive the attention they deserve.
“The horses are based on the track; we are not expecting any persons from overseas participating. There are going to be locals participating in terms of sponsors, local owners, officials as well as jockeys from the region on race day.
“We are set to make your heart race! You get to watch and cheer for your favourite horse while enjoying a great outing with family or friends. With a host of liquor bars and a high street providing a variety of scrumptious food for purchase, it will be an afternoon of joy and fun.
