St Lucia is first to participate in Country Financing Road Map
Prime Minister Allen Chastanet posted the following to his official Facebook page:
"Saint Lucia becomes first country to partner with the World Economic Forum to implement "Country Financing Road Map."
During my address to the United Nations General Assembly, you would have heard me announce that Saint Lucia is the first country in the world to partner with the World Economic Forum to implement the Forum's "Country Financing Road Map."
This basically is a unique opportunity to build on the efforts to harness the collective intelligence and leverage global expertise around one common vision and action plan to catalyze private sector investment and unleash financing in helping us achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Saint Lucia will be the model for other Small Island Developing States.
The purpose of the Country Financing Roadmap is to provide countries with actionable steps, tools and networks to unlock capital at the scale and speed needed to meet their Sustainable Development Goals by taking a more holistic and strategic approach to SDG financing and leveraging the SDGs as a mechanism that can drive the long-term competitiveness of the country.
The Roadmap builds on public-private collaboration and bringing the international (financial) community and countries together to identify the conditions for an investor friendly environment that can increase the number of financing sources available to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs and create National Integrated Financing Frameworks, as recommended by the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, that are both coherent and “private capital viable”.
The World Economic Forum is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation and was established in 1971 as a not-for-profit foundation and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
It is independent, impartial and not tied to any special interests. The Forum strives in all its efforts to demonstrate entrepreneurship in the global public interest while upholding the highest standards of governance. Moral and intellectual integrity is at the heart of everything it does."
