Statistics employee test negative for COVID-19
On October 15, Loop News reported on the closure of the Department of Statistics after we learnt that an employee was exposed to the coronavirus.
On October 19, Permanent Secretary Claudius Emmanuel updated to Loop News on the status of the employee.
Emmanuel disclosed the staffer was screened and submitted to a PCR test for COVID-19 which came back negative.
Authorities in the Ministry of Health have confirmed the COVID negative results.
Loop News was reliably informed that the Statistics officer recently came into contact with a minibus driver who tested positive for the coronavirus on October 10.
Authorities at the Statistics Department on the advice of health officials decided to temporarily shut down operations, "out of caution".
The Statistics officer reported to the La Clery Wellness Centre where the COVID-19 test was administered.
Normal business operations at the Statistics Department located on the ground floor of the Financial Administrative building at Pointe Seraphine, Castries will resume on October 21.
