The Trinbago Knight Riders started their quest for a hat-trick of Caribbean Premier League titles with a thrilling 11-run victory over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Queen’s Park Oval on Wednesday night.

Pollard, who took over as TKR skipper after Dwayne Bravo suffered an injury, hit 47 off 32 balls to lead the defending champions to 152-7 in their 20 overs.

The Patriots were in dire straights at 76-5 before Fabian Allen smashed four sixes off the 16th over, bowled by Sri Lankan leg-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna, to bring the visitors back into the game.

However, with the Patriots needing 13 runs off the last over, New Zealander Jimmy Neesham took two wickets in balls to bowl out the Patriots for 141.

Man of the Match Neesham had earlier hit 33 and featured in a crucial 60-run partnership with Denesh Ramdin, after the TKR had lapsed to 20-3 after the first four overs.
