Tobago woman held with marijuana imported from California
A 23-year-old Tobago woman is currently in police custody after she was allegedly held with 10.38 kilogrammes of marijuana at the Piarco International Airport this week.
The woman, of Old Farm Road, Tobago, was arrested on Monday afternoon by officers of the Customs and Excise Division.
The woman was at the airport to clear a barrel which had arrived from California, United States of America.
The barrel was said to have contained several tins of beans.
The customs officials on examining the contents of the barrel, observed that the tins were not what they considered the proper weight, and as such, the tins were opened.
Inside these tins the officers found and seized marijuana.
All the contents of the barrel were then opened and a total of 10.38 kilogrammes of marijuana were found.
As a result the woman was immediately arrested.
