Trial for men accused of Pratt murder begins

The long-awaited murder trial of four Vieux Fort residents accused of killing British Yachtsman Roger Pratt in January 2014 is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Monday, January 20, 2020.

Roger Pratt, 62, was killed and his wife Margaret, 60, was injured when bandits attacked their boat as it lay anchored in the Vieux Fort bay, the evening of January 14, 2014.

The couple was on their dream vacation sailing around the world when tragedy struck. 62-year-old retired consultant Roger Pratt was beaten and left to drown and his wife, Margaret, was injured as well. 

The four accused; Jeromine Alias World Boss Jones, Richie Kern Aka Yellow, Kervin Devaux, Fanis Alias Ras –Seize - Zoe Joseph will be returning to court Monday, just days after the sixth anniversary of Pratt's death.

The accused are facing several charges including murder and assault, and a possible life sentence if found guilty.

According to court documents obtained from https://www.eccourts.org/, Richie Kern is expected to undergo a ‘Fitness Hearing’ to determine his competency to stand trial.

According to a post mortem examination conducted on the body of Roger Pratt, the British national died as a result of “Asphyxia secondary to blunt force trauma.”
