Women remanded on drug charges after 359 lb marijuana bust

Two females who were arrested on Sunday, May 3, 2020, during a police operation have been formally charged.

The two have been identified as Roberta Prudent and Nadeige Suffen, both Castries residents.

According to reports, at approximately 8.45 pm Sunday, the Drug Squad attached to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Southern Division, along with the Special Services Unit (SSU), conducted an operation in Praslin, Micoud.

During the operation, officers intercepted a Suzuki Dzire motor car.

Following a search of the vehicle, a total of 359 pounds of cannabis was recovered.

The two women were charged on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, for possession of a controlled drug in addition to possession with intent to supply a controlled drug.

They have been remanded in custody.
