A police officer who was arrested on Saturday following the discovery of a number of marijuana plants in the yard of the residence where he was at the time, has been released without being charged.

He was released after it turned out to be a case where the officer, who is attached to the Vieux-Fort Police Station, was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The officer was arrested along with two other men who were with him at a house at Westall Group, Vieux-Fort when officers attached to the Special Service Unit (SSU) pounced on them and discovered approximately 60 marijuana plants in the yard.

According to a police source, the men who were with the officer at the time of the discovery accepted responsibility for the marijuana plants.

Loop News understands that the officer went to the house where he was arrested to visit a female friend and was relaxing with her relatives when they were arrested.
