Two days ago, the CEO of Barbadian-based Washington University was escorted out of the institution in the hands of two police officers.

Today he walked to a prison bus.

Rao Venkata Gopi, 42 of #11 Falcon Crest, Tuscany, Oldbury, St Philip will spend the next 28 days at another St Phillip institution - Her Majesty's Prison (HMP) Dodds.

This came after Gopi appeared in the St Matthias Magistrate's Court charged with one count of evading liability at Furniture Limited T/S Builders Value Mart for one dishonoured cheque totalling BBD $30,000 and three counts of evading liability at Casa Grande Inc for three dishonoured cheques totalling BBD $210,000

The former charge is a District ‘A’ matter while the latter was allegedly committed in the District 'C' jurisdiction.

Gopi, who is represented by Roger Forde QC, will return to court on October 15.
