Watch: Double accident as car flips down precipice

In the same week as the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) calling for safer driving, a viral video showed not one, but two accidents within moments of each other.

The viral video, which was shared thousands of times on social media, showed an accident which was said to have taken place in Mt D'or.

However while the recorder was showing the first accident, a sharp crash was heard and the camera spun around to show another car unbelievably slipping over the side of the road and slipping down a precipice.

This, as TTPS Road Safety Project Coordinator, Brent Batson urged drivers to be more careful on the nation's roads during a media briefing on December 19, 2018.

"We ask all road users to please be more alert and responsible when using our nation’s roads, stay alert, use your seatbelt and obey road rules."

"All the tickets we write and DUI arrests officers make are aimed at helping to make the roads safer, saving lives and keeping families together.

"102 families have lost loved ones on the roads, that’s 102 empty places around the Christmas table. Let’s work together to ensure no more lives are needlessly lost," he said.

For 2018, out of the 102 road traffic deaths recorded by police, one-third of these (32 deaths) were pedestrians. 15 of these deaths were pedal cyclists - an increase of 300 percent compared to 2017.
