Will St Lucia Jazz 2020 be cancelled due to Coronavirus?
As Saint Lucia gets set to host the annual Jazz Festival scheduled for May 2020, the question on whether to cancel the event due to COVID-19 was posed to officials of the Events Company of Saint Lucia (ECSL) and the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA), the event marketers and organizers.
“As a destination, we are being guided by the Department of Health in that regard as it relates to COVID-19,” Geraine Georges, Public Relations Manager at the SLTA said.
Around the world, several events from festivals, concerts, and sporting events are being cancelled and postponed amid concerns of the spread of coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan, China.
"The Department of Health has been proactively working with all agencies on the island as it relates to the preparedness and response plan so we are being guided by them and we are also pleased to report that we have no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus on Saint Lucia,” Georges declared.
“This year, Jazz will happen from the 7 to the 9 of May and all of the shows are happening at the Ramp in the ECSL Pavillion and at Gros Islet Park where the second pavilion will be erected,” Lorraine Sidonie, Chief Executive Officer at ECSL said.
