Bank of Saint Lucia suspends ATM fees in light of coronavirus
In light of the ongoing local and regional developments related to COVID-19, local banks, as expressed in the recent statement from the Bankers Association, have been advising customers to, as much as possible, utilize electronic banking halls.
Bank of Saint Lucia officials stated the health and safety of its customers and staff are of the utmost priority and encourages its customers to use these channels which include ATM, Online and Mobile Banking services. To support these efforts, the Bank has announced a suspension of the 50 cent ATM fee on all “offsite” ATMs with immediate effect.
The suspended fee applies to the ATMs located at all Massy Stores Supermarkets locations, Massy Stores Mega, Caribbean Cinemas, Providence Commercial Centre in Rodney Bay, Blue Coral Mall, Castries and the Bureau at the Hewanorra International Airport in Vieux Fort. In-branch ATMs are not subject to transaction fees.
The Bank also encourages its customers to utilize Online & Mobile Banking to pay bills, check account balances and initiate transfers, or to use the secure messaging feature to send transaction-specific requests. The Bank continues to liaise with local authorities, and has launched a COVID-19 page (bankofsaintlucia.com/covid19updates) on its website, which provides up to date information including Facts, FAQs, customer information from the Bank and updates from the Ministry of Health.
The Bank has further implemented in-branch measures to protect its customers and staff including:
- In-branch hand sanitizer dispensers which customers are encouraged to use when entering and leaving the branches.
- The increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting of all customer service and customer contact areas throughout the day (including ATMs and ATM rooms)
- The daily and frequent cleaning and disinfecting throughout all BOSL locations.
Shortly branch ATM rooms will be equipped with hand sanitizers in addition to the strict cleaning regiment.
The Bank encourages all customers and the general public to stay safe, to continue to monitor the official reports from the Ministry of Health, and to adhere to all health and safety precautions to mitigate against the possible spread of this virus.
