Declaring no individual is immune to COVID-19, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet is calling on members of the public to put a stop to facilitating individuals of illegal entry into Saint Lucia.
“All of us have to be part of this; even the persons in the community knowing that persons have come in illegally have to report it.
You are not immune, your family members are not immune,” Chastanet said, declaring: “If the President of the United States can get COVID, all of us can get it.”
Just recently, police picked up several individuals on suspicions of illegal entry into Saint Lucia
The suspects have since been placed into quarantine for 14 days, after which charges are expected to be slapped against them.
“I fail to understand that given the information that we’ve had persons would continue, in the last couple of weeks to bring people in illegally… Honestly, it’s just unbelievable,” Prime Minister Chastanet lamented.
Speculation has been rife that illegal entry into the island is what led to Saint Lucia experiencing a second wave of the pandemic despite Health officials declaring they have no conclusive evidence of such.
