Escaped prisoner Markin ‘Road Block’ Marquis fatally shot by police

Markin Marquis alias ‘Road Block’, one of two escaped inmates from the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF), was shot and killed by police officers in Dennery during a police operation Wednesday evening.

Marquis was arrested on Monday, December 2, 2019, in connection with the death of 27-year-old Lyndon George, a resident of Bruceville, Vieux Fort.

George, who was a DJ by profession, was in the DJ booth at a dancehall in Bruceville at about 2 am when an unknown male came up to the booth and shot him once in the head.

Markin Marquis was formally charged for causing the death of George on Tuesday, December 3 and was remanded to the BCF.

On Saturday, March 21, 2020, six inmates of the BCF attempted to escape the facility.

Four were caught in the process; however, Dave Joseph and Markin Marqiun were successful in their escape.

Joseph was caught one day later in Dennery, while Marquis remained on the run.

He was considered to be armed and dangerous.

Law enforcement received information Wednesday evening and proceeded to the location in Dennery where he was shot and killed in an attempt to arrest him.

Marquis was attempting to leave the island by boat.
