Met Service warns flood-prone areas to take precautions

The Saint Lucia Met Service is closely monitoring weather systems which have already begun to affect the island.
This has prompted a warning from the Saint Lucia Met Services for citizens to take steps in protecting themselves and their property against the weather system which has the potential of becoming a tropical storm.
"Persons in low lined and flood-prone areas should take necessary precautions, we should be getting some rainfall," Joyeux said.
According to reports, the first wave emerged Wednesday morning and is expected to produce a broad area of pressure with chances of becoming a tropical storm.
The system is expected to move west-northwest throughout the week and could collide with another system, producing a broad area of pressure over the Western Caribbean by the end of the week.
"Even though the system is not developing because of the upper-level winds, it still is a tropical wave and we could get some showers from tonight into tomorrow," Joyeux said.
