The incident occurred along the Vieux-Fort/Laborie Highway which has been the scene of many vehicular accidents over the years.

According to eyewitnesses, the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, had to be pulled from under the minibus.

The eyewitnesses say that the motorcyclist was riding at break-neck speed and was trying to avoid hitting the rear of another vehicle which had just come out of the parking lot of a hardware store near the highway.

They say as he tried to do so, he slammed into the minibus which was traveling in the opposite direction.

“The motorcyclist was going down with some real speed… The last thing I saw was the bus dragging the motorcyclist about 40 feet,” one eyewitness told Loop News.

He added: "The motorcyclist was stuck under the vehicle and some guys had to lift it up to pull him from under it."
