Piat and Grande Riviere road works in advanced stages
Road works along Corinth/Grande Riviere Highway and Piat Development are in advanced stages.
That is according to Minister for Infrastructure, Stephenson King.
The roads, he says, are being constructed to be climate resilient and form part of the Road Improvement and Maintenance Program Phase (IV).
“Works have started on those two roads, the contractors have already taken the sites under their control, we are already seeing an intensification of the works both on Grande Riviere and Piat Development, on the way to be handed over to residents," Minster King said.
C.O. Williams Group of Companies St Lucia has been awarded the contract for the Corinth/Grande Riviere Road, while the RG Group of Companies has taken charge of the Piat Road Development Project.
“Works are progressing well,” said Managing Director of RG Group of Companies, Rayneau Gajadhar.
“We are actually doing what the engineers have instructed us to do, we have actually laid down crusher run to create a base, then we going to put in some drainage, once that is done we going to get some testing done on the base and then put some concrete over it.”
The project is expected to be completed within five months.
“Some of the locations are really bad; too much mud and we have to actually dig. In one of the areas, a four-inch pipeline comes into the drain so we have to remove it and relay it, so that is going to take some time to do, apart from that we are ok,” Gajadhar explained.
