Batches of coconut oil recalled in St Lucia by Bureau of Standards

The Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards (SLBS) along with the manufacturer of Real Refined Coconut Oil and Magic Refined Coconut Oil wish to advise the public of the withdrawal of certain batches of coconut oil, which are non-compliant with the compulsory national standard SLNS 25: 2017 Specification for Coconut Oil.

“This withdrawal affects all Real Refined Coconut Oil which carries the batch number codes BN 037, BN 039 and BN 040.

All Magic Refined Coconut Oil which carries the codes BN 030, BN 036BN 037 and BN 040 and any product which may have an illegible code.

Customers are advised not to consume the affected products bearing the codes,” the SLBS said.

The Coconut Factory (Prevost Foods) is cooperating fully with the SLBS in resolving all concerns relating to this matter.

“The company has instructed all outlets which carry the brand to remove the affected batch of oil from their shelves. Distribution of new batches of the oil has ceased until full inspection and certification by the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards.

“The company is working with the SLBS to determine the definitive cause of the problem.”

Once the SLBS’s assessment process is complete a full statement will be released to the public on the status of the company’s coconut oil.
