Theta becomes a remnant low

The US National Hurricane Centre (NHC) said Post-Tropical Cyclone Theta no longer meets the qualifications of a tropical cyclone.

Theta has been without significant deep convection for many hours now and has been gradually spinning down today, according to NHC.

At 3pm GMT (10am EDT), the centre of Theta was located over the far eastern North Atlantic Ocean about 670 miles (1080 km) southeast of the Azores.

It's moving toward the north near two mph (four km/h) and a faster north or north-northeast motion is forecast to take place for a day or two until the low dissipates.

Theta’s maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts.

The low should gradually decay and dissipate by Tuesday.
